Speaking at a joint press conference with Chancellor Stocker of Austria, President Erdoğan said: “We are glad to see the positive momentum, which we have attained in our relations with Austria in the recent period, in our economic and trade relations as well. We believe that we will inshallah increase the nearly 4.5-billion-dollar trade volume, which we achieved in 2025, to our goal of 5-billion dollars this year.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Chancellor Christian Stocker of Austria, who is paying an official visit to Türkiye, held a joint press conference following their talks at the Presidential Complex.
“Türkiye's investments in Austria have neared $1 billion”
Voicing his pleasure over hosting Chancellor Stocker of Austria, who is paying his first visit to Türkiye as the Chancellor, in Ankara, President Erdoğan stated that the Austrian Turkish community, whose population has surpassed 400 thousand, undoubtedly continues to be the shared value and richness of the two countries, and said: “We have discussed with Mr. Chancellor all the aspects of our bilateral relations. We have exchanged our views on the Türkiye-European Union relations as well as regional and global developments. We are glad to see the positive momentum, which we have attained in our relations with Austria in the recent period, in our economic and trade relations as well. We believe that we will inshallah increase the nearly 4.5-billion-dollar trade volume, which we achieved in 2025, to our goal of 5-billion dollars this year. Over 1,000 Austrian companies operate in our country. The direct investments originating from Austria have exceeded 11 billion dollars. Türkiye’s investments in Austria, on the other hand, have neared 1 billion dollars. All these figures are the most obvious sign of the potential between us.”
“Steps to be taken by EU on visa liberalization will benefit all of us”
Stressing that he has conveyed Türkiye’s views and expectations regarding the Türkiye-European Union relations to Mr. Chancellor as well, President Erdoğan noted: “I have underscored that the steps to be taken by the European Union on the update of the Customs Union and visa liberalization in particular will benefit all of us. We have also exchanged our views on regional and global matters. Ensuring Syria’s territorial integrity and unity remain to be our top priority. We attach importance to Austria contributing to the reconstruction process of Syria. We continue to uphold the two-state solution that has an essential importance for lasting peace in the Middle East. The issue of the uninterrupted delivery of the humanitarian aids to Gaza, on which Mr. Chancellor, too, shows special sensitivity, preserves its importance under current conditions. We as Türkiye and Austria attach great importance to the continuation of stability in the Balkans as well.”
