“We will continue solidarity with the brotherly countries for peace, stability and prosperity in our region”

Holding a joint press conference with Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif, President Erdoğan said: “We will continue to work in solidarity with the brotherly countries, particularly Pakistan, for the strengthening of peace, stability and prosperity in our region. Our solidarity with Pakistan continues in every area.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan held a joint press conference following their meeting at Vahdettin Mansion in Istanbul.

“I take great joy in welcoming my treasured brother Mr. Shehbaz Sharif of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and his esteemed delegation to Istanbul. I would like to once again welcome them in your presence. Before starting my speech, I wish Allah’s mercy upon our Pakistani brothers and sisters who passed away in the tragic traffic accident in which a passenger bus rolled down a cliff in the Balochistan province yesterday. I extend my condolences to my brother Sharif on behalf of my country and my nation,” President Erdoğan said.

“We support every step that will contribute to reducing tensions in our region”

“During today’s talks, we exchanged views on our bilateral relations, as well as regional and global matters. To start with, the whole world took a sigh of relief as a result of the tranquility established with the Islamabad MoU. Recent reports seen in international media demonstrate the hardships experienced during the negotiations. I once again congratulate my esteemed brother Prime Minister Sharif and our Pakistani brothers and sisters on the tremendous efforts they put into achieving this outcome. We have especially supported, and continue to support, every step that will contribute to reducing tensions in our region and resolving problems through diplomacy,” President Erdoğan stated.

“We will continue to work in solidarity with the brotherly countries for the strengthening of peace”

“We are closely following the Israeli administration’s provocations aimed at dynamiting the agreement. The Zionist massacre cadre, which hinges its political survival on the continuation of conflicts in the region, doesn’t give a break to Lebanon and Syria in particular. Occupation forces of Israel continue their lawless and inhumane attacks on the innocent in Gaza, as well. It is necessary not to allow the current war-addicted Israeli government to once again drown our geography in the smell of gunpowder and blood. Türkiye wishes for a climate to prevail whereby all the residents of our region, regardless of their religions, live in peace and safety. We are exerting every kind of efforts for the establishment of such a climate. I would like to take this opportunity to underline that any solution not built upon regional countries’ will and support cannot be lasting. We will continue to work in solidarity with the brotherly countries, particularly Pakistan, for the strengthening of peace, stability and prosperity in our region. Our solidarity with Pakistan continues in every area,” President Erdoğan said.

“We want to deepen our cooperation with Pakistan”

President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: “Today, we also discussed the steps we can take to expand our trade and investment relations in a manner befitting this solidarity. We reaffirmed our formerly-set target of raising our trade volume to the level of $5 billion. Our trade ministries are working on the special economic zone envisioned for our businesspeople in Karachi. Similarly, talks are underway to expand the scope of our preferential trade agreement. I believe the trade business forum Mr. Sharif attended today will contribute to our trade and investment ties. We, for our part, encourage our investors to enhance their operations in Pakistan. Our cooperation in defense industry, one of the key pillars of our economic relations, is growing day by day with new projects. I believe that these projects, which we are implementing step by step, will add to the strength of Pakistan. We want to deepen our cooperation with Pakistan in the areas of energy, transport, critical minerals and information technologies. Today, we reaffirmed our determination with Mr. Prime Minister.”
