President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the delivery ceremony of new generation Fırtına howitzers in Sakarya.
Underscoring that they would never allow Türkiye’s defense moves to be hindered by various plots as had been experienced several times in the past, President Erdoğan said: “We will not stop, rest, or consent to the slightest step back until we proclaim our full independence in the area of defense industry. As is the case here today, we will inshallah make our country glide from one success to another under public and private sector cooperation.”

Drawing special attention to the export figures, President Erdoğan said: “Do you know what our defense export figures, which had been just 248 million dollars 20 years ago, were last year? We broke a record with 4.4 billion dollars. While only two companies of ours were in the world’s top 100 defense companies list five-six years ago, we are now represented with seven firms in that very same list. Besides, we are among the world’s top 3-4 countries in the production of UAVs, UCAVs and fighting UAVs.”
“The Turkish UCAVs, with their successes they have achieved in a wide range of areas from the Karabakh victory to Libya, from anti-terror fight to pinpoint operations, are changing the warfare methods in the world as well. Today, our Fırtına howitzers as well as our UCAVs and fighting UAVs have become the nightmare of the terrorist organizations, which target our country especially from outside our borders. We have witnessed in person what an important and critical role these two capabilities of ours have assumed during our operations in Syria. With our new generation Fırtına howitzers taken in our inventory, and with these giant projects of ours, we are inshallah further consolidating our strength.”
