President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan held a joint press conference following the 6th meeting of the Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.

“WE DISCUSSED THE POTENTIAL JOINT STEPS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TERROR”

As the first country to recognize the Kyrgyz Republic 33 years ago, we further strengthen our deep-rooted relations with the country day by day. During our bilateral meeting with my treasured brother Mr. Japarov as well as during the meeting between our delegations, we have reviewed all aspects of our relations. With the document we have just signed, we have elevated our strategic partnership relations, which we established in 2011, to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership that befits our brotherhood. We have signed 19 agreements, including the joint declaration, in many areas such as security, energy, education, healthcare and culture. Also, we have discussed the potential joint steps in the areas of security, defense industry, and the fight against terror. I hereby would like to thank my esteemed brother for his support to our fight against FETO.”

“WE ARE AMONG THE TOP FIVE COUNTRIES INVESTING IN KYRGYZSTAN”

Noting that steps to be taken to increase the bilateral trade volume, which neared two billion dollars in 2023, to five billion dollars were also discussed during the meeting, President Erdoğan stated: “Türkiye is among the top five countries investing in Kyrgyzstan. Our construction firms, which have already become a global brand, have completed over 90 projects worth nearly one billion dollars in your country. On this basis, my treasured brother and I have deliberated on what can be done to mutually encourage investments and support our businesspeople.”

Pointing out that the Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital, built and equipped by TİKA, will be inaugurated later in the day, President Erdoğan said: “Both through TİKA and other institutions of ours, we will determinedly continue our efforts to increase the welfare of the Kyrgyz people.”

“THE TURKIC WORLD SHOULD DISPLAY A FIRM STANCE ON THE HUMANITARIAN TRAGEDY IN GAZA”

Pointing out that an exchange of views took place during the bilateral meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart, President Erdoğan said: “The Israeli brutality in the occupied Palestinian lands, particularly in Gaza, was also high on the agenda of our talks. As the Turkic world, we should display a firm stance regarding the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza. We maintain our multidimensional relations within international organizations, too. During the 11th OTS Summit to be held tomorrow, the Kyrgyz Republic will take over the term presidency of our family assembly from Kazakhstan. I wholeheartedly believe that Kyrgyzstan will strongly contribute to the advancement of cooperation within the Turkic world with the motto, ‘our unity is our strength,’ during its term presidency.”

During the meeting, President Erdoğan was also presented with the Manas Order by President Japarov.

Extending his gratitude to Kyrgyz President Japarov for the conferrence of the Manas Order, which is of great value for the Kyrgyz people, President Erdoğan said: “My official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic, our fatherland, has been crowned with this high order. I am accepting the Manas Order with great pride as an unshakeable symbol of the eternal brotherhood between our countries.”
