Congratulating all the military students and officers on their graduation, President Erdoğan said: “On our path to building the great and strong Türkiye, we get the greatest support from our military’s deterrence capabilities, successful operations as well as dignified and resolute stance.”
“TÜRKİYE HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN A DISTINGUISHED POSITION WITHIN NATO”
Touching upon the recent NATO Summit in Madrid, President Erdoğan underscored that Türkiye had always been in a distinguished position within NATO with the contributions it had been making to the Alliance, and noted: “However, it is evident that the countries which we have alliance relations within NATO have in the recent period not adequately supported Türkiye’s sensitivities about combatting terrorism and defending its borders. We still remember how NATO members, our so-called allies, turned their backs on us when such terrorist organizations as DAESH, PKK and YPG pushed towards our borders six-seven years ago. Thanks be to Allah, we did not mind it much for we have enough strength, means and capability to ensure our own security. Nevertheless, it is most natural for us to act in line with our sensitivities in any situation where we have initiative in terms of our fight against terror, border security and national interests. It will be appropriate to assess the latest developments within NATO in this context.”
