Türkiye and Malaysia to cooperate in the fields of “media and communication”

Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato' Sri Saifuddin Abdullah of Malaysia signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the fields of "media and communication."

Within the margins of the visit of Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Bin Yaakob of Malaysia, who was in Türkiye to pay an official visit at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, various cooperation agreements were signed between Türkiye and Malaysia, including the "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Fields of Media and Communication".

The Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Director of Communications Altun on behalf of Türkiye and Minister Abdullah on behalf of Malaysia aims to deepen the friendly relations between the two countries and to strengthen and further develop relations in the fields of media and communication.

Accordingly, the two countries will seek to strengthen, encourage and develop cooperation in the fields of media, communication, and broadcasting on the basis of reciprocity and mutual benefit, subject to the provisions of the memorandum of understanding and the applicable laws, legislation and national policies in their respective countries.

In this scope, technical cooperation in the fields of communication, broadcasting (radio, television and digital content), production and movies will be encouraged and developed.

"It will remain in effect for three years"

The memorandum will allow the two countries to exchange information and experience in the fields of media and communication, as well as share best practices and experiences and collaborate on initiatives and projects that provide mutual benefits and interests.

In addition, meetings, seminars, workshops, training and conferences will be organised and mutual visits between officials and experts in the fields of media, communication and broadcasting will be encouraged.

The memorandum of understanding will become effective immediately and remain in effect for three years.
