President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks to reporters following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex.
President Erdoğan said: “Türkiye is now an independent country that can determine its political and security priorities all by itself and carry them out. Türkiye is now a powerful country capable of developing and implementing its own economic and social programmes. Türkiye is now a country which has realized its civilizational and historical experience, and which can display in every area the humanitarian stance required by this experience. Perhaps, the greatest service we have introduced in our country is this feeling of self-confidence and resolution that has taken root even in the cells of each and every individual of our nation.”
“That we changed last week at the United Nations our country’s official name in the international arena from Turkey to Türkiye is one of the symbols of this new period,” President Erdoğan noted, adding that Turkey would be referred to as Türkiye from now on by all its foreign counterparts as well as in all the foreign correspondence.
