Seven agreements were signed between the two countries in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The joint agreements between the two countries were signed following their bilateral meeting and the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council, chaired by President Erdoğan and Al Nahyan.
In his speech, President Erdoğan stated that he was pleased to host Al Nahyan and his delegation in Ankara on the occasion of the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council.
President Erdoğan expressed his hope that the visit and today's discussions would be auspicious and said, "The strategic partnership that my dear brother Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and I laid the foundation for during my visit to Abu Dhabi in 2023 has thankfully begun to bear fruit in almost every field. We have made significant progress in every field, from trade to infrastructure, defence industry to energy, and technology to transportation."
President Erdoğan stated that, at the current stage, the Emirates has become Türkiye's leading trading partner in the Middle East and said:
"As recently as three years ago, we were wondering whether we would reach a trade volume of $10 billion, and now we are hoping to exceed $20 billion this year. I believe that we will reach our medium-term target of $40 billion with decisive steps by both sides. In this context, my dear brother and I just had a productive meeting. We thoroughly discussed not only bilateral issues but also steps we, as Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates, could take on regional issues, particularly regarding Gaza. We will further advance our relations through the agreements we will sign. I say, 'May God help and guide us,' and I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank my dear brother for his contributions to our cooperation."
Agreements
In this scope, the "Memorandum of Understanding on Investment Cooperation in the Field of Tourism and Hospitality between the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and the Government of the United Arab Emirates" was signed between the two countries by Ahmet Burak Dağlıoğlu, the President of the Investment and Finance Office of the Presidency, and Mohammed Hassan Al Suwaidi, the Minister of Investment of the UAE.
The "Memorandum of Understanding on Investment Cooperation in the Pharmaceutical Sector between the Investment and Finance Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Investment of the United Arab Emirates" was signed by Ahmet Burak Dağlıoğlu, the President of the Investment and Finance Office of the Presidency, and Mohammed Hassan Al Suwaidi, the Minister of Investment of the UAE.
The "Memorandum of Understanding on Investment Cooperation in the Industry and Manufacturing Sector between the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and the Government of the United Arab Emirates" was signed by Ahmet Burak Dağlıoğlu, the President of the Investment and Finance Office of the Presidency, and Mohammed Hassan Al Suwaidi, the Minister of Investment of the UAE.
The "Memorandum of Understanding on Investment Cooperation in the Fields of Food and Agriculture between the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and the Government of the United Arab Emirates" was signed by Ahmet Burak Dağlıoğlu, the President of the Investment and Finance Office of the Presidency, and Mohammed Hassan Al Suwaidi, the Minister of Investment of the UAE.
The "Memorandum of Understanding for the Establishment of a Joint Consular Committee between the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and the Government of the United Arab Emirates" was signed by Nuh Yılmaz, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Khalifa Shaheen Al Marr, the Minister of State of the UAE.
The "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Polar Research" was signed by Mehmet Fatih Kacır, the Minister of Industry and Technology, and Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of the UAE.
The "Memorandum of Understanding on the Mutual Protection of Classified Information between the Government of the Republic of Türkiye and the Government of the United Arab Emirates" was signed by Yaşar Güler, the Minister of National Defence, and Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, the Minister of State for Defence Affairs of the UAE.
On the other hand, President Erdoğan shared a post on his social media account regarding his meeting today with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Expressing his pleasure at hosting Al Nahyan in Türkiye, President Erdoğan stated, “As His Highness Sheikh Al Nahyan has also emphasised, we are strengthening our cooperation and solidarity across all fields, and further consolidating our brotherly ties.”
President Erdoğan affirmed that Türkiye is determined to work in full harmony with the UAE—particularly in the areas of development initiatives and investments—and to further advance the strong relations between the two countries.
