With the signing of the memorandum of understanding by Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun and Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Ammar Muhammad Al-Lafi of Libya, cooperation in the field of media and communication between the two countries will be strengthened.
The two countries, which will collaborate to develop a Joint Media Platform, will combat fake news and disinformation together.
In addition to the current friendly relations between Türkiye and Libya, cooperation in the field of media and communication will be strengthened, which plays a crucial role in the development of these relations.
The Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Fields of Media and Communication was signed between Türkiye and Libya as part of the official visit to Libya that was paid today, upon the directions of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The memorandum of understanding signed by Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun on behalf of Türkiye and Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Ammar Muhammad Al-Lafi of Libya on behalf of the Government of National Unity of Libya aims to develop and strengthen cooperation in the field of media and communication between the two countries.
Accordingly, the two countries will exert efforts to strengthen, encourage and develop cooperation in the fields of media, communication and broadcasting.
In addition to the training and exchange programmes to be held between the two countries in the field of media and communication, cooperation between official news agencies is encouraged, and the interchange of visual, audio, and electronic content is envisioned.
Joint fight against fake news and disinformation
The two countries, which have committed to making the necessary efforts to establish a Joint Media Platform and hold the Joint Working Group meetings, demonstrate a significant willingness to collaborate in the fight against fake news and disinformation through the memorandum of understanding.
