The "Turkic World Columnists Symposium" organised by our Directorate concluded following the panels on different topics.
Journalists and writers participating in the Turkic World Columnists Symposium organised by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications highlighted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's positive role in the development of Türkiye's relations with the Turkic world, while journalists from the Turkic world evaluated the development of their country's relations with Türkiye.
Nadir Ismayilov, deputy editor-in-chief of Azerbaijan Bayraqdar Media, told a correspondent of Anadolu Agency (AA) that relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan are experiencing one of their finest periods in history. Noting the role of the media and politics in these relations, Ismayilov said, "We have achieved what we have long dreamed of. Such initiatives strengthen the Turkic world's relationships. Cooperation between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Ilham Aliyev is highly crucial. The topics in this symposium are the most important issues of the contemporary world. The Western world's disinformation war against the Turkic world is apparent. If there is an attack, we must defend ourselves and act together."
Turkmenistan is pleased with the development of relations
Resulgeldi Dovletmyradov, editor-in-chief of the "Turkmen Portal" website, drew attention to the developing relations between Turkmenistan and Türkiye.
Noting that he had always been warmly welcomed in Türkiye, Dovletmyradov stated that he was very pleased with the brotherly relations between the countries.
Stressing that the May 14 elections have been closely followed in Turkmenistan, Dovletmyradov said, "We witness the excitement of the citizens who will vote in the ballot boxes in Turkmenistan. We also assist citizens with voting and getting information on our news channels."
Within the scope of the symposium, the panel "Cooperation in Energy in the New Century" was moderated by International Media Relations Coordinator of the Directorate of Communications Doğan Eşkinat.
Speaking at the panel, Deputy General Manager of Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) Ahmet Türksoy addressed the discoveries they made and said:
"Here, I would like to talk about two significant discoveries. These are Martyr Esma Çevik and Martyr Aybüke Yalçın fields on the Türkiye-Syria border; they are the two most significant discoveries in the history of Turkish exploration, both in terms of the amount and geology. This will contribute significantly to Türkiye's production in the future. In addition, it has provided us with a significant opportunity for geological research and new discoveries. We are very excited about these discoveries. Especially about Martyr Aybüke Yalçın... There, we made the most significant discovery ever made in Türkiye. It may not be appropriate to disclose the reserve amount just yet, but we are talking about a very large reserve."
"When we reach the second phase, we will be supplying approximately 25% of Türkiye's consumption"
Noting that the Sakarya Gas Field was discovered in August 2020, Türksoy said, "We have now completed our phase 1 operations. As part of Phase 1, we drilled 10 wells. We will be extracting 10 million cubic metres per day, which corresponds to approximately 7 per cent of Türkiye's consumption. In the second phase, we will add 30 more wells to these 10 wells, and we will extract 40 million cubic meters with 40 wells. When we reach this second phase, we will be supplying about 25 per cent of Türkiye's consumption. We aim to extract 40 million cubic metres by the end of 2027."
"Journalism will once again clean up the mess done by social media"
During the roundtable discussion session titled "Media in the New Century" within the scope of the symposium, in his presentation on the changing structure of the media, the importance of combating disinformation, and strategies in this context, Anadolu Agency News Coordinator Yahya Bostan said, "With the changing media, a multi-voiced, highly entertaining, very opportunistic, rich, and diverse environment has emerged. We began to observe its social and security-related adverse effects as time passed. On social media, there is information bombardment, uncontrolled communication, the loss of intellectual profundity, a ground that fuels the unreal age, and harm to the truth. There is disinformation that causes us a great deal of stress and that we need to think about and act upon."
Stressing that Turkic states should also take joint steps in this regard, Bostan concluded his speech, saying:
"I believe Turkic states and communities should consider establishing alternatives to platforms like YouTube and Twitter. We need to take action. People in the Turkic world have this potential, are highly intelligent, and have an in-depth knowledge of technology. There are people who have good communication and dialogue with society. Therefore, as the Turkic world, we should sit down and reach a point where we establish them, activate them, refuse to be influenced by others, even invite them, and let them come and utilise our structures."
As the symposium concludes following the panels, the participants will attend TEKNOFEST, the largest aviation, space, and technology festival in the world, tomorrow.
