“Turkey, which has been a bulwark against terrorism, will continue to work closely with the United States and other countries to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations”

Communications Director Fahrettin Altun made the following remarks to Reuters regarding the US announcement that Baghdadi was captured dead.

"The Repulic of Turkey was proud to support the efforts of its NATO ally United States to bring a notorious terrorist to justice." Altun noted, and continued :

"As a member of the Global Coalition against DEASH, we have worked very hard with our friends and allies to defeat the terrorists. We have lost our fathers, mothers and sons in our fight against terror. Today, we remember Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's civilian victims as well as our military heroes, who lost their lives to protect the world from DEASH terror. Turkey, which has been a bulwark against terrorism, will continue to work closely with the United States and other countries to  combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It is time to join our forces and defeat all terrorist organizations operating in our region."
