“The Turkish economy displayed an outstanding performance in a period when routines were broken in global trade”

Speaking at the International Contracting Services Award Ceremony, President Erdoğan said: “The Turkish economy displayed an outstanding performance in a period when routines were broken in global trade, diplomacy and security. 2025 was a year during which we reached our goals in economy to a great extent, the balances were restored, significant achievements were made in anti-inflation fight, and we broke records, especially in exports and tourism.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the International Contracting Services Award Ceremony in Ankara.

Describing 2025 as a year when ambiguities increased at global level, and geopolitical risks, protective trade policies and weakening foreign demands put a strain on the world’s economy, President Erdoğan said: “I would like to point out with great pride that the Turkish economy displayed an outstanding performance in a period when routines were broken in global trade, diplomacy and security. 2025 was a year during which we reached our goals in economy to a great extent, the balances were restored, significant achievements were made in anti-inflation fight, and we broke records, especially in exports and tourism.”

“A great mobilization of reconstruction will begin in the entire Syria”

Stating that new doors and new windows of opportunities are opening up before Türkiye, President Erdoğan noted: “As Syria finds stability and security, all the neighborly countries, us in particular, will directly feel the positive effects of it. Trade will speed up, investments will increase, and tourism will develop. A great mobilization of reconstruction will begin in the entire Syria, especially in the residential areas where the former regime left in ruins with barrel bombs. As the effects of the oppression, which claimed the lives of nearly 1 million Syrians, are removed, as Syria heals its wounds with Türkiye’s support and gets on its feet, different winds will blow in our region. We can already see the indications of it.”

“We are a nation that embraces all those in need without any distinction”

Underscoring that Türkiye, with its 86 million citizens, is the home, shelter and assurance of tens of millions of people who rely on it, President Erdoğan added: “Türkiye cannot remain indifferent or be a mere onlooker to its friends as well as brothers and sisters suffering not just beyond its borders, but also all across the world. We, throughout our history, have been a nation that has embraced all those in need without any distinction. Today, we act with the same sincerity as well. We meet the humanitarian aid requests coming from beyond our borders in close cooperation with the Syrian government.”

Further stating that a big mistake has been made in Syria by violating the March 10 agreement and not concluding the discussions on January 4, President Erdoğan stressed that they attach importance to the implementation of the ceasefire and full integration agreement reached on January 18 in that sense.
