Addressing a meeting with the Union of International Democrats delegation, President Erdoğan said: “I would like to state that we find the military operation Russia has launched against Ukraine unacceptable and that we reject it. This step, which we see as a violation of the international law, is a heavy blow dealt to regional peace, calm and stability.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received the Union of International Democrats delegation at the Presidential Complex.
In his address during the meeting, President Erdoğan said that Russia’s military operation against Ukraine was unacceptable and that Türkiye rejected it. “This step, which we see as a violation of the international law, is a heavy blow dealt to regional peace, calm and stability.”
President Erdoğan stated: “We are sincerely saddened by such a confrontation between Russia and Ukraine, both of which we see as close friends with whom we enjoy close political, economic and social relations. I have reiterated to Mr. Zelensky, with whom I have just spoken, that Türkiye supports the struggle Ukraine wages to protect its territorial integrity. We will do our part for the safety of life of everyone living in Ukraine, particularly that of our own citizens and our Tatar brothers and sisters in the region.”
President Erdoğan continued his speech as follows: “We are renewing our call for the settlement of the problems between Ukraine and Russia, with which we enjoy deep historical ties and friendly relations, through dialogue within the framework of the Minsk Agreements.”
