Statement regarding President Erdoğan’s meeting with UN Secretary-General Guterres

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in New York for the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.

The meeting addressed regional and global issues, particularly Israel's attacks against Gaza.

Noting during the meeting that Israel's aggression targets not only the Palestinians but also regional and global peace, President Erdoğan emphasised that the international community must intensify its pressure on Israel in order to secure the uninterrupted entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Pointing out Türkiye's ever-increasing endeavours to bring an end to the Russia-Ukraine war, President Erdoğan emphasised the importance of boosting efforts for an immediate ceasefire and a lasting peace.

Underlining that the need for revision in the United Nations system has become evident in recent years, President Erdoğan further affirmed that Türkiye would continue to provide every contribution to the works to be undertaken to this end, adding that the importance of preserving world peace has been better understood through the challenges faced by the world in recent years.
