President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in Qatar for the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation-Arab League Extraordinary Summit, met with President Ahmad Al-Sharaa of Syria.
The meeting addressed Türkiye-Syria bilateral relations as well as regional issues.
In the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that Sharaa's participation in the United Nations General Assembly meeting was of historic significance, that Türkiye would continue to support Syria, and that they were working to develop bilateral relations.
Noting that Türkiye was following the steps that would bring together diverse elements in Syria, President Erdoğan emphasised the importance of preserving Syria's unity and solidarity, as well as the SDF's compliance with the March 10 deal.
President Erdoğan was accompanied at the meeting by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan and Director of the National Intelligence Organisation İbrahim Kalın.
