Statement regarding President Erdoğan’s meeting with Qatar PM Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who is in Türkiye for the Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul.

The meeting addressed bilateral relations between Türkiye and Qatar, as well as regional and global issues.

Stating that he has been engaged in intense diplomatic efforts following Israel’s attacks on Iran and that the countries in the region cannot endure another war, President Erdoğan underlined the importance of keeping Syria and Iraq away from these conflicts and stressed the need to de-escalate tensions and create space for diplomacy.

Noting that stopping Israel and returning to negotiations to resolve the nuclear dispute are essential, President Erdoğan underscored that sustained efforts by regional countries to pursue these goals would be beneficial.

President Erdoğan stressed that efforts would intensify to ensure that Israel’s attacks on Iran do not divert attention from the ongoing genocide in Gaza and that the oppressor Netanyahu must not be allowed such an opportunity.
