President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in Washington to attend the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit, met with Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary.
During the meeting, bilateral relations between Türkiye and Hungary, Türkiye’s EU accession process as well as regional and global issues were discussed.
During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye continues its peaceful efforts to end the Ukraine-Russia war and Israel's attacks on Gaza, and that the international community should increase its efforts to ensure peace in these regions.
President Erdoğan also added that Türkiye expects support for revitalizing the European Union accession process and advancing relations during Hungary's term presidency.
In a video he posted on the social media platform X, PM Orban of Hungary made the following remarks regarding the meeting: "Türkiye already proved during the war that it is an indispensable player in peace-making. President Erdoğan was the only successful statesman who was able to conclude a Russian-Ukranian agreement regarding grain shipments in the Black Sea."
