Statement regarding President Erdoğan’s meeting with President Pezeshkian of Iran

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in Cairo for the D-8 Summit, met with President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran.

The meeting addressed bilateral relations between Türkiye and Iran, as well as regional and global issues.

President Erdoğan stated that the relations between Türkiye and Iran form the basis of regional stability and that the two countries have opportunities to reach their mutual trade volume target of 30 billion dollars, which can be achieved by developing their relations.

President Erdoğan expressed that he wants to see a Syria where stability and security prevail, terrorism is eradicated, and refugees return to their countries voluntarily and with dignity, and emphasized the necessity of preserving Syria's territorial integrity and unity.

President Erdoğan noted that Syria's stabilization would serve the stability and security of the entire region and that Syria's rapid recovery could be achieved with the contributions of all regional and international actors.
