President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran on the sidelines of the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization in Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, bilateral relations between Türkiye and Iran, as well as regional issues, were discussed.
President Erdoğan emphasized the importance of transforming the de facto ceasefire between Iran and Israel into lasting calm.
The resolution of issues through dialogue and negotiations was highlighted as essential.
Türkiye’s readiness to sincerely fulfill its responsibilities, including acting as a facilitator if needed, was expressed. The necessity of strengthening cooperation between Türkiye and Iran in the fight against terrorism was underlined.
Advancing bilateral relations in all fields, particularly in trade, benefited both countries.
President Erdoğan was accompanied during the meeting by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Presidency's Head of Communications Fahrettin Altun, Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç.
