Statement regarding President Erdoğan’s meeting with President Pezeshkian of Iran

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in New York for the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, met with President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran at the Turkish House.

The meeting addressed bilateral relations between Türkiye and Iran, Israel's attacks on Palestine and Lebanon as well as regional and global developments. Stating that the historical and cultural ties between Türkiye and Iran have always had a positive impact on the bilateral relations and opportunities for cooperation aligned with both countries' interests will be assessed in the period ahead, President Erdoğan voiced his belief that ties will be developed and bolstered in every field.

Remarking that it is important to take steps that serve peace in response to Israel's aggression that threatens peace and stability in the region, President Erdoğan stated that the international community must raise its voice more on the basis of international law, diplomacy and human rights in order to end the violence that Israel is committing in the Palestinian and Lebanese territories as soon as possible. President Erdoğan also added that Türkiye is enhancing its efforts to provide humanitarian aid to civilians in the Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza, where Israeli massacres are taking place.
