Statement regarding President Erdoğan’s meeting with President Mohamud of Somalia

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in Qatar for the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation-Arab League Extraordinary Summit, met with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia.

The meeting addressed bilateral relations between Türkiye and Somalia, as well as regional and global developments.

During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that the humanitarian situation in Gaza, targeted by Israel, is getting worse, that the international community must raise its voice for uninterrupted access to aid in Palestine, and that since the very first day, Türkiye has been striving to deliver humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

President Erdoğan underscored the significance of increasing sanctions on Israel during this process, noting that steps to be taken, particularly in the economic field, could yield results.

Pointing out that the cooperation between Türkiye and Somalia is advancing each passing day, President Erdoğan expressed that Türkiye's support for Somalia would continue to grow.

The President was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Director of National Intelligence Organisation İbrahim Kalın, AK Party Deputy Chairman Halit Yerebakan, Presidency's Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran, and Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç.
