Statement regarding President Erdoğan’s meeting with President Macron of France

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with President Emmanuel Macron of France on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in The Hague.

During the meeting, bilateral relations between Türkiye and France, as well as regional and global issues, were discussed.

In the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye and France will continue to work towards further advancing their bilateral relations.

Expressing satisfaction with the ceasefire reached between Israel and Iran, emphasizing the need for the current situation to swiftly evolve into lasting calm, President Erdoğan also highlighted the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and stressed the importance of achieving a permanent ceasefire there as soon as possible.

President Erdoğan noted that including non-EU allies in Europe’s new security and defense architecture would be beneficial and emphasized the importance of approaching Türkiye-European Union relations from a long-term and strategic perspective.

President Erdoğan also stated that Syria has been acting cautiously to remain outside the scope of regional conflicts and underlined the importance of Israel recognizing that ensuring its own security depends on the stability of its neighbors.
