Statement regarding President Erdoğan’s meeting with President el-Sisi of Egypt

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in Cairo for the D-8 Summit, met with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt.

The meeting addressed bilateral relations between Türkiye and Egypt, as well as regional and global issues.

President Erdoğan stated in the meeting that Türkiye will continue to develop cooperation with Egypt, which has historical and cultural ties, in many areas, including defense industry, energy, transportation, and development, and will strive to achieve the goal of a mutual trade volume of 15 billion dollars.

President Erdoğan expressed that the Syrian people have paid a great price for 13 years, that the Syrians will decide their future, that the political unity and territorial integrity of Syria are essential, and that Türkiye's support will continue for the reconstruction of Syria and the establishment of internal reconciliation.

President Erdoğan noted that a permanent and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza should be achieved as soon as possible and that a continued increase in solidarity between Türkiye and Egypt would contribute to the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to the region.
