Statement regarding President Erdoğan’s meeting with PM Al Sudani of Iraq

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in New York for the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, met with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani of Iraq at the Turkish House.

During the meeting, bilateral relations between Türkiye and Iraq as well as regional and global issues were assessed.

Stating that Türkiye and Iraq take steps to develop cooperation as two neighboring countries and particularly the implementation of the Development Path would benefit both countries and the region, President Erdoğan noted that cooperation in the fight against terrorism is important at this point.

Stressing that the solidarity of the international community is necessary to prevent Israel's attempts to spread conflicts to the region, President Erdoğan expressed that Israel would definitely be held accountable for its massacres in Palestinian territories.
