Statement regarding President Erdoğan’s meeting with President Lula da Silva of Brasil

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in Rio de Janeiro for the G20 Leaders’ Summit, met with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil.

The meeting addressed bilateral relations between Türkiye and Brazil, as well as regional and global issues.

Expressing the importance of high-level dialogue in enhancing relations between Türkiye and Brazil, President Erdoğan stated that they will continue to work to forge a strategic partnership between the two countries.

President Erdoğan stated that Brazil’s stance against Israeli aggression is praiseworthy, that Türkiye has launched an initiative under the United Nations to prevent the sale of weapons and ammunition to Israel, and that Türkiye will continue to do its best to establish a permanent ceasefire in Palestine, to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region without interruption, and to achieve a just two-state solution.

President Erdoğan noted that the United Nations has failed to avert conflicts worldwide, particularly in Gaza, and has proven insufficient in addressing crises, and that Brazil’s bringing up the “Global Governance Reform” during its G20 presidency is felicitous.
