Statement regarding forest fires and extinguishing efforts

The efforts to extinguish forest fires in the provinces of İzmir, Aydın, Manisa, Bolu, and Karabük continue through aerial and ground operations.

To respond to the ongoing fires, 366 ground vehicles, including water trucks and construction equipment, are being used, as well as 53 aircraft, including 42 helicopters and 11 airplanes.

In addition, the Be-200 Amphibious Firefighting Aircraft, which can carry and drop 12 tons of water, contributes to operations. Its massive water discharge capacity, amphibious nature, and fast movement speed enable it to effectively extinguish forest fires.

To combat forest fires in Bolu, Aydın, İzmir, Manisa, and Muğla provinces, aircraft flew 2134 sorties, dropping 7662 tons of water in 583 flight hours over two days.

In addition to the forestry organization, municipalities, police, the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), and gendarmerie officials provide assistance to the firefighting operations with their vehicles.
