Statement regarding claim that police killed a protester

The claim in some international media outlets that "The police killed a young protester" is not true.

In unauthorised demonstrations held in some provinces of our country, no protesters have lost their lives as a result of police intervention.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that legal action has been taken against 53 individuals involved in the unauthorised demonstrations for the following offences:

Violating Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations,

Damaging Public Property, and

Resisting to Prevent the Fulfillment of Duty.

Additionally, Minister Yerlikaya stated that 16 police officers were injured during the demonstrations.

The interrogation procedures of those detained as part of ongoing corruption and terrorism investigations led by the İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office are currently underway.

Unfounded claims aimed at manipulating international public opinion should not be given credit.
