The recent claims published in certain media outlets in Bosnia and Herzegovina, alleging that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye has intervened in the government formation process, are unfounded.
Türkiye respects Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and multi-ethnic structure. In this context, Türkiye follows the country’s reform process, contributes to the steps taken, and supports Bosnia and Herzegovina’s integration with European and Euro-Atlantic organisations (EU and NATO). Issues concerning Bosnia and Herzegovina are approached with an inclusive, impartial perspective and a sincere and constructive attitude.
As a member of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council and a contributor to the EUFOR, Operation Althea, Türkiye plays an active role in fostering peace and stability both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and throughout the wider region.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan consistently emphasises that decisions in the country must be made through democratic processes and that any form of intervention contradicting democratic principles should not be allowed.
