Statement by National Security Council

"It was stated that it is unacceptable for Greece, which persistently maintains its stance against good neighbourly and alliance relations, to disregard international law, and increase its violations of territorial waters and airspace, in addition to its provocative actions."

A statement was released following the National Security Council (NSC) meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex.

In the Statement of the National Security Council (NSC), it was emphasised that it is unacceptable for Greece, which persistently maintains its stance against good neighbourly and alliance relations, to disregard international law, and increase its violations of territorial waters and airspace, in addition to its provocative actions.

The statement indicated that during the meeting, the board was informed about the operations conducted with determination, perseverance and success against all kinds of threats and dangers to national unity, solidarity and survival, particularly the terrorist organisations PKK/KCK, PYD/YPG, FETO and DAESH and that the additional measures were discussed.

The statement noted that the progress made in the fight against the terrorist organisation FETO, which was responsible for the coup attempt on July 15, was assessed, adding:

"It has been strongly affirmed once again that the efforts to completely eliminate this treacherous network, which collaborates with all terrorist organisations and centres targeting the stability and security of Türkiye, will continue with determination. The NATO Leaders' Summit, held in Madrid, and its outcomes were discussed in depth, and it was highlighted that Türkiye has fulfilled its duties in the alliance, of which it has been a part for seventy years, and that it expects the same from other members of the alliance. As part of this, we call on our allies to back and stand with Türkiye in its fight against FETO, as well as the PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG and all of its offshoots."

The NSC statement stressed, "It was stated that it is unacceptable for Greece, which persistently maintains its stance against good neighbourly and alliance relations, to disregard international law, and increase its violations of territorial waters and airspace, in addition to its provocative actions," adding:

"The administration of Greece was urged once more to stop illegal activities that jeopardise the lives of irregular migrants and violate human rights and humanitarian law. Strong support was voiced for the two-state solution vision for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on the basis of sovereign equality and equal international status.

Türkiye reiterated its call to end the war between Russia and Ukraine before the war leads to more casualties and destruction and to declare a comprehensive cease-fire, as well as stating that Türkiye will continue working towards the establishment of lasting peace and the resolution of the issue that is escalating into a global food crisis."

The statement noted that the widening political and social effects of the global economic crisis, exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent conflicts experienced throughout the world, were analysed in all aspects, and measures to be taken to strengthen Türkiye across all areas against potential future threats were evaluated.
