President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex.
“Türkiye works in order for crises to be solved before they turn into hot conflicts”
President Erdoğan said: “In a period when tensions escalate at global level, with our peace-, dialogue- and negotiation-oriented policy, we as Türkiye work in order for crises to be solved before they turn into hot conflicts. Keeping in mind that we are members of a great nation with its history, its conscience, and its epics written in battlefields when need be, we advocate equity and justice, and speak the truth no matter where in the world without fearing anyone. Our country’s firm, courageous, bold, sincere and principled stance in the face of incidents is followed by everyone with appreciation.”
“We expect everyone to respect to our rights”
Describing Türkiye’s sole purpose as increasing the number of its friends in a period when severe crises take place all across the world, President Erdoğan stated: “We do not endeavor to create hostility out of disputes. We do not seek to escalate conflicts or deepen problems. While respecting countries’ sovereign rights, we expect everyone to respect our rights. As I have said before, a wind of Türkiye is blowing in the world right now. Everyone wonders what Türkiye thinks, what it does, what stance it takes and what steps it will take in the face of new developments.”
Greek PM Mitsotakis' and Serbian President Vucic's visits to Türkiye
Noting that they hosted a number of important names in Türkiye in this regard in recent weeks, President Erdoğan said: “We hosted Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of Greece at the Presidential Complex on February 11. We found opportunity to review our attitudes regarding the Aegean and the Mediterranean as well as the two countries’ relations. We strengthened the contractual basis of our relations with the documents we signed. I shared our expectations about the Western Thrace, and the Turkish minority completely benefitting from their educational and religious rights with Mr. Mitsotakis.”
Touching upon Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s visit to Türkiye on February 12, President Erdoğan said they discussed the items on the two countries’ agenda, including the Sandžak region, and that they will further deepen their relations with Serbia in such fields as civil aviation, culture, education, energy, transportation and tourism.
Also drawing attention to his visit to Addis Ababa after 11 years at the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia, President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye is the second biggest investor in Ethiopia, and added that over 200 Turkish firms contribute to the employment of 20 thousand Ethiopians with their investments exceeding 2.5 billion dollars.
