President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered remarks following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex.
Drawing attention regards the attacks carried out at schools in Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa, and the ensuing developments, President Erdoğan wished Allah’s mercy upon the children, who lost their lives in the nefarious attacks, and Ayla Kara, the teacher who were martyred while shielding herself to save her students, and said: “The security of our schools is our top priority. Even the slightest concession on this is and will be out of the question. It is important that we address the developmental psychology, social policy, family’s role and education aspects of this issue besides its security aspect. In this regard, we aim to boost cyber patrolling activities and strengthen the capacity of our cyber units. We will further increase our visible and invisible presence in the dark tunnels of the internet by making use of artificial intelligence as well. Enhancing the school-police cooperation and developing new work models will be among the steps we will be taking during this process, too. Today, I have given the necessary instructions to our relevant ministries to do what is required without any hesitation.”
Underlining the special position of family, President Erdoğan stated: “Family is the first school of a person. Education starts within family. Socializing starts within family as well. Rules of etiquette are also taught within family. People learn to be a part of the society they live in within their families first. Family is the first school where culture, morals, the carrier of national and spiritual values, compassion, and approaching other creatures with mercy and empathy are taught. That is why we have been drawing attention to strong individual, strong family and strong society, and working to protect the family in the face of increasing attacks. As has been the case in the recent attacks, the weakening of intra-family communication as well as the absence of drawing boundaries and discipline make children vulnerable to threats. It is important that the school-family-guidance link is used in an efficient manner not just in times of crises, but also in other times as well.”
