President Erdoğan, UN Secretary-General Guterres talk over phone

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres ahead of the UN Security Council meeting on Gaza tomorrow.

The call addressed expectations from the international community in the face of Israel’s unlawful attacks, solution offers for the humanitarian crisis, and efforts to achieve lasting peace.

President Erdoğan stressed that Israel, which continues to blatantly trample on the international law, the law of war and the humanitarian law in open view of the international community, must be held to account before the international law for the crimes committed.

Extending his condolences for the more than 100 UN personnel who lost their lives in Israel’s attacks on Gaza, President Erdoğan noted that Mr. Guterres’ in-person visit to the Rafah Border Gate has been beneficial since it has drawn the international community’s attention to the issue.
