President Erdoğan: "I strongly condemn and denounce the vile assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran."
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a statement on his social media account regarding the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, the capital of Iran.
In his message, President Erdoğan expressed:
"This assassination is a treacherous act aimed at thwarting the Palestinian cause, undermining the heroic resistance in Gaza, and demoralising and intimidating our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
The objective of this heinous attack against my brother Ismail Haniyeh is the same as that of previous attacks against Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi, and many other political figures from Gaza. However, as has been the case until now, Zionist barbarism will not achieve its goals. With a stronger stance from the Islamic world and the alliance of humanity, we hope that the oppression and genocide in Gaza, as well as the terror spread by Israel in our region, will soon come to an end, bringing peace to our region and the world.
To this end, Türkiye will continue to explore all avenues, exert all efforts, and support our Palestinian brothers and sisters with all our capabilities and strength. We will continue to strive for the establishment of a free, sovereign, and independent State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders. I pray Allah’s mercy for my brother Ismail Haniyeh, who was martyred in this despicable attack, and extend my condolences to his family, our brothers and sisters in Gaza, Palestine, and the Islamic world. May Allah bestow upon him the blessings of the Heaven.”
