President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared the video of Türkiye's first space traveller, Colonel Alper Gezeravcı, who will serve in the International Space Station (ISS) on his social media account and stated, "We are very close to achieving our goal of sending a citizen into space for the first time with a science mission within the scope of our National Space Programme. Take pride in yourself, Türkiye.''
The dialogues between a little girl named Zeynep, who came to the Turkish Space Agency to apply for an astronaut position, and Colonel Gezeravcı, who met with her via video conference, capture the viewer's attention in the video. Answering the little girl's questions about himself, Gezeravcı said, "I am a jet pilot. I have been flying for 22 years. I have passed more than 100 tests, and everything is in order. We have been preparing for two years, I believe I will succeed."
Türkiye's first astronaut, Alper Gezeravcı, will embark on a mission to the International Space Station (ISS) at 01.11 am on January 18.
Gezeravcı will carry out several experiments in space for scientific research on the International Space Station, where he will stay for 14 days.
