President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has issued a message on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Çanakkale Land Battles.
In his message on the 105th anniversary of the Çanakkale Land Battles, President Erdoğan commemorated with gratitude the heroism of the soldiers who defended the homeland and the flag and the sacrifice of the nation, and remembered with mercy the martyrs and veterans who passed on to eternity.
Noting that, '‘For our nation, ‘The Spirit of Çanakkale' means to stand against the invasion attempt in an all-out mobilization even under the most severe circumstances, to fight for the sake of independence, to believe in success, to walk to the target in unity and solidarity,’’ Erdoğan stated that the nation, which had lived free since eternity, had not been, and would not be besieged by any war or attack. In his message Erdoğan stated the following:
“Throughout our history, our aim has always been to maintain our independence and establish peace. Despite all the challenges and troubles, we are determined to sustain this struggle until the day we substitute peace, tranquility and human values for war, terrorism, violence. On the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Çanakkale Land Battles, we reiterate our call for peace to the entire world. While we are exerting efforts to prevent outbreak of new wars and make peace prevail, we expect from our future generations to hold tightly on the messages of Çanakkale under all circumstances."
President Erdoğan also commemorated with respect all the heroes, notably Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who waged a great battle in Çanakkale.
