In his post on his Twitter account, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wished mercy to Gültekin, who was killed by his ex-boyfriend, and patience to her sorrowful family, friends and beloved ones.
Reiterating that the university student Pınar Gültekin, whose body was lost in the Ula district of Muğla five days ago and was found in a forested area, was brutally murdered by a villain, Erdoğan noted the following: "The pain for Pınar Gültekin has deeply saddened us. I curse all crimes committed against women. These murderers and their terrible murders do not have a place or excuse as much as a single grain of sand neither in our civilization nor in our understanding and lives and will never do. Together we will stand against this violence and defeat them as a nation.
I have no doubt that the murderer who killed Pınar Gültekin will receive the heaviest punishment he deserves. I will be a follower of the case personally and as the Republic of Turkey we will do whatever it requires to stop the violence against women that we never want to encounter again.”
