President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan released a message on "May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day".
In his message, President Erdoğan said:
"My August Nation,
Dear Young People,
Today marks the 106th anniversary of the arrival of Ghazi Mustafa Kemal, the founder of our Republic, in Samsun to start our War of Independence.
I congratulate you on the occasion of the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, and extend my sincerest wishes.
Dedicated by Ghazi Mustafa Kemal to the Turkish youth, May 19 marks the day when the first step was taken in the struggle for independence, initiated by our ancestors with faith, perseverance, and determination.
In return, we are protecting the homeland and the Republic—sacred legacies entrusted to us by our ancestors—and we are taking steps to advance and elevate the Republic of Türkiye, destined to live for eternity, in every field.
I see our youth not only as the architects of the future but also as the driving force of change, and I sincerely believe that the Turkish youth, who carry our legacy of civilisation in their hearts, will mark the "Century of Türkiye" with their energy, determination and dreams.
In building Türkiye's future, we address and permanently eliminate any issues that would drain the energy of our young people or squander our nation's resources through fruitless debates. We are working with all our strength to fulfil our promise of leaving our youth a prosperous country, one that is peaceful, tranquil, and equipped with advanced technologies.
We provide our youth with opportunities to discover their potential in every field, from science and the arts to sports and agriculture, from diplomacy to nuclear technology, as we walk hand in hand, arm in arm with them to realise our ideal of a great and strong Türkiye.
We will continue to support every young person who works with determination to realise their dreams, never gives up, and strives to further glorify the legacy of civilisation inherited from their ancestors.
We will always keep alive our determination to work harder and succeed for our young people by recognising their role in every success of Türkiye, which strengthens and reinforces its position as it progresses towards becoming a central country with every step we take.
With these sentiments, I once again congratulate you on the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, and I respectfully commemorate all the heroes of our War of Independence, especially Ghazi Mustafa Kemal, the founder of our Republic.”
