President Erdoğan said: "The Çanakkale Victory was a glorious epic that inflicted defeat on the most advanced armies of the time and engraved the phrase 'Çanakkale is Impassable' into the annals of history."
In his message on the occasion of March 18 Martyrs' Day and the Çanakkale Naval Victory, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that the nation proudly and enthusiastically observes the 109th anniversary of our Çanakkale Victory.
Stating that they once again remembered all the heroes of the Çanakkale epic with mercy and reverence, President Erdoğan noted the following in his message:
"I would like to take this opportunity to pray for Allah's mercy on our security forces and citizens who sacrificed their lives for our homeland and flag during the War of Independence, the Cyprus Peace Operation, the fight against terrorism, and on July 15. The mightiest armies in the world were defeated in Çanakkale by devout hearts, and faith triumphed. The Çanakkale Victory was a glorious epic that inflicted defeat on the most advanced armies of the time and engraved the phrase 'Çanakkale is Impassable' into the annals of history."
President Erdoğan emphasised the pivotal role played by the valiant soldiers' faith and determination in the remarkable triumph at Çanakkale, as well as the nation's unparalleled sacrifices, in igniting a spirit of resistance that ultimately propelled the War of Independence to triumph, adding:
"The Turkish nation's unique struggle here instilled hope in all oppressed people, and many colonised nations drew inspiration for their own struggles from Çanakkale and, later, our War of Independence. In addition to representing our eternal and perpetual solidarity as a nation, Çanakkale reflects and symbolises the shared fate of our region. The children of this homeland have a lot to learn from the arduous struggles and sacrifices endured by our predecessors in Çanakkale. With these thoughts, I celebrate the 109th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory and commemorate all our martyrs and all our heroes, especially Ghazi Mustafa Kemal, with mercy and gratitude on March 18, Martyrs' Day. May their souls rest eternally in heaven and in peace."
