President Erdoğan’s intensive diplomacy traffic at G20 Leaders’ Summit

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan engaged in intensive diplomacy traffic in the context of the  G20 Leaders’ Summit 2023 hosted by India, giving top priority to the country and regional developments.

President Erdoğan held his first meeting on the occasion of the summit held on 9-10 September in New Delhi with Prime Minister Kishida Fumio of Japan.

President Erdoğan received Kishida Fumio at the hotel he was staying, and held a conversation with PM Narendra Modi of India at the welcoming ceremony at Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

On the first day of the summit, President Erdoğan attended two sessions and met with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil, President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea, and received Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany and President Ajay Banga of the World Bank.

President Erdoğan also held meetings with the leaders of countries that are members of MIKTA, an informal, inter-continental consultation and coordination platform comprised of Mexico, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Türkiye and Australia.

President Erdoğan attended the MIKTA meeting along with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of Australia, President Joko Widodo of Indonesia, President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea and Minister of Economy Raquel Buenrostro of Mexico. 

On the second day of the summit, President Erdoğan visited Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial tomb with G20 leaders; and following the third session of the summit, attended the “concluding session” and “rotating presidency handover ceremony” .

On the second day of the summit, President Erdoğan met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, who attended the summit on special invitation; and received President Charles Michel of the European Council. President Erdoğan concluded his talks in the framework of the two-day summit by receiving Prime Minister Modi of India.
