President Erdoğan’s intense diplomacy traffic at United Nations

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held bilateral meetings with many leaders in New York, the United States of America (USA), where he travelled to attend the 79th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.

On the first day of his visit to New York as part of his contacts in the United States, President Erdoğan was received with an affectionate welcome by people at the entrance of the Türkevi, where he met with many leaders and engaged in intensive diplomacy traffic.

President Erdoğan met with President Aleksandar Vučić of Serbia, President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine and President Sissoco Embalo of Guinea-Bissau.

President Erdoğan received Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of Greece, Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah of Kuwait, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, Prime Minister Edi Rama of Albania, Prime Minister Najib Mikati of Lebanon, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani of Iraq, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia, Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan, Secretary-General António Guterres of the United Nations, and Prosecutor Karim Khan of the International Criminal Court.

President Erdoğan presented the book titled “A Fairer World is Possible,” which he penned, to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia and handed over the books titled “Evidence” and “Witness”, which were prepared by Anadolu Agency (AA) and served as the primary evidence revealing the crimes committed by Israel in Gaza, to Khan, Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

President Erdoğan's address urging action for Gaza received widespread global coverage in the world press.

The foreign press extensively covered President Erdoğan's speech at the UN General Assembly, in which he urged the international community to take action about the situation in Gaza.

Following his address at the General Assembly, President Erdoğan gave an interview to NBC News channel and emphasised the Israeli massacres in Gaza and said, “From 1947 until the present, Palestine has gradually lost its territories. If we delve into how many Palestinians have been martyred, how many Palestinians have been killed, the story behind this situation reveals a very different picture."

As part of his programme in the US, President Erdoğan paid a visit to the TURKEN Foundation, co-founded by the Youth and Education Service Foundation of Türkiye (TÜRGEV) and Ensar Foundation.

President Erdoğan met with representatives of several US think tanks at a round table meeting and attended a dinner event organized by the Turkish-American National Steering Committee (TASC).

President Erdoğan met with American and Turkish businesspeople as part of the 15th Türkiye Investment Conference and visited the photo exhibition “Women in Life” organised by the Women and Democracy Foundation (KADEM) together with First Lady Emine Erdoğan.

President Erdoğan and his accompanying delegation returned to Istanbul after his contacts in the US.
