President Erdoğan: “With our 2053 vision, we aim to be a hub for advanced technologies”

In the video message sent for the release of the Global Innovation Index 2024 Report, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan greeted the participants and extended his thanks to the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation, Daren Tang, who invited him to the event, as well as those who contributed to its organisation.

President Erdoğan expressed his pride in the level reached over the years in the field of innovation, saying, "Thanks to our gradually realised vision, we have climbed 31 positions in the Global Innovation Index over the last 11 years. Likewise, we stand above the average for upper-middle-income countries in the sub-indexes for human capital and research, infrastructure, market sophistication, knowledge and technology outputs, and creative outputs."

Highlighting that the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office rose to the top of leading trademark and industrial design indexes as a result of its endeavours, President Erdoğan said:

"These achievements undoubtedly reflect Türkiye's commitment to building a dynamic and strong innovation ecosystem. The Türkiye Global Innovation Index Roadmap 2024-2026, published this year, will contribute to achieving our objective of innovative economic growth by encouraging investments in this area.

One of our objectives in the Twelfth Development Plan 2024-2028 is to secure a position among the top 10 countries in the Global Innovation Index. We have attained a stage through our National Technology Move where we can independently develop and manufacture advanced technologies. With our 2053 vision, we aim to be a hub for advanced technologies by embracing innovation in science and technology. In addition to these measures, we adhere to the principle of "leaving no one behind" in order to avert the exacerbation of injustice. We remain committed to providing support for the United Nations Technology Bank for Least Developed Countries, which we proudly host."

President Erdoğan expressed his congratulations on the release of the Global Innovation Index 2024 Report, adding that he would like to reiterate Türkiye's strong commitment to enhancing its partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organisation and strengthening its presence in the global innovation ecosystem.
