President Erdoğan, “We must immediately implement the Economic Cooperation Organisation Trade Agreement”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared a post following his visit to Uzbekistan on his social media account.

President Erdoğan stated in his post, "The sixteenth Economic Cooperation Organisation Summit was convened in the capital city of Uzbekistan, Tashkent."

I hope that our summit and our consultations will be beneficial for the stability and prosperity of our region and our countries.

We must immediately implement the Economic Cooperation Organisation Trade Agreement, which is one of the strategic goals of our ECO Vision 2025 document and has unfortunately been unenforced for the past two decades.

This will be accomplished by increasing the activity of the Economic Cooperation Organization Trade and Investment Bank ECOBANK, which we are hosting in Istanbul, through the active involvement of all members.

Furthermore, we should strengthen our cooperation in the tourism and travel sectors.

I am pleased that at the meeting, Erzurum was designated the Tourism Capital of 2025 by the Economic Cooperation Organization.

Our substantial investments in energy infrastructure over the past few years, particularly in TANAP, have enabled us to significantly enhance the energy supply security of our nation and the region.

We, as members of the Economic Cooperation Organisation, can increase our influence in this area through our collective efforts.

In this regard, it would be advantageous to increase our joint investments in the development of new energy technologies and cleaner initiatives such as renewable energy and hydrogen, under the motto "In unity, there is strength."

I would like to invite all of our members to sign the Charter of the Economic Cooperation Organization Clean Energy Center, which will be established in Baku, and to which Türkiye is a signatory.

In light of recent developments, the Trans-Caspian East-West Corridor initiative has acquired even greater significance.

In the face of challenges in our common region, from Karabakh to Afghanistan, we must forge a united front.

It is also of strategic importance to establish transportation lines that will connect Nakhchivan with the western regions of Azerbaijan as quickly as possible.

As the Economic Cooperation Organization, we must work together to establish long-term stability and security in Afghanistan.

As an observer member of the Economic Cooperation Organisation, President Ersin Tatar's representation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at our summit sends a crucial message against the unjust practises imposed on our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters.

In this regard, I reiterate my call to establish and enhance relations with Turkish Cypriots in all fields.

I would like to thank all of my brothers who have taken steps in this direction."
