President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared a post on his social media account, saying, "Today, we were in Budapest for the founding anniversary of our strategic partner and NATO ally, Hungary, and for the World Athletics Championships." We met with the President and Prime Minister of Hungary, as well as other invited heads of state and government, during our visit."
President Erdoğan emphasised that Türkiye enjoys extensive relations with Hungary that trace back to their deeply rooted and enduring friendship ties, saying:
“We are making significant progress in all aspects of our relations. In 2022, our bilateral trade volume reached an all-time high of 3.5 billion dollars. Through joint efforts, we believe that we will be able to meet our target of 6 billion dollars in trade volume in a short period of time. I wish that our visit, during which we reviewed all aspects of our bilateral relations and discussed the steps we will take to advance those relations, will be auspicious."
President Erdoğan congratulated Hungary on hosting the 19th World Athletics Championships and wished for a successful conclusion to the event.
