President Erdoğan visits State Cemetery

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended a ceremony held at the State Cemetery to mark the 100th anniversary of August 30 Victory Day.

After President Erdoğan laid a wreath at the Monumental Wall with the names of the commanders who served in the National Struggle, a moment of silence was observed.

President Erdoğan wrote in the State Cemetery memorial book the following:

“The august comrades-in-arms of Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Commander-in-Chief of our War of Independence and the founder of our Republic, the heroes of our National Struggle, and the esteemed statesmen who earned a distinguished place in our nation’s heart with their services to our country… Today, we along with our nation have the joy to mark the 100th anniversary of the Great Offensive and the August 30 Victory Day. I am elated to be before you on this historic day with members of your families whom you entrusted to us.

I remember with grace our martyrs who sacrificed their lives without hesitation for the integrity of our country, unity of our nation and the continuity of our state, and our veterans with reverence. Guided by your epic struggle, we incessantly maintain our endeavor to preserve these lands as our eternal homeland. We are determine to carry this beautiful country, under every inch of which a brave man or woman rests, to 2023 in unity, solidarity and brotherhood, and to make our vision for 2053 come true. None of the malevolent people at home and abroad will be able to prevent Türkiye from rising, growing stronger, and taking its rightful place in the global system.”
