President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan laid a wreath at the Atatürk Monument in Lefkoşa (Nicosia), the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), where he arrived for an official visit.
President Erdoğan paid a visit to the Atatürk Monument with President Ersin Tatar of TRNC after arriving in Lefkoşa (Nicosia) for the opening of Ercan Airport and the July 20 Peace and Freedom Day ceremonies.
Laying a wreath at the monument and signing the Official Memorial Book, President Erdoğan then greeted the citizens waiting for him.
President Erdoğan wrote the following in the Official Memorial Book:
"August Atatürk, we are excited and proud to commemorate the 49th anniversary of the July 20 Peace Operation, which was carried out by the heroic Turkish Armed Forces in solidarity of strength and heart with the Turkish Cypriot People. On this occasion, we reiterate the unwavering support of the Motherland, the guarantor Türkiye, to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. We will continue to defend the claims, rights, and sovereignty of our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters on every platform. May you rest in peace."
