President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
President Erdoğan shared a post on his social media account regarding the phone call, and said:
"We spoke by phone with Mr António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations. During our conversation, we addressed regional developments, with a particular focus on the incidents in Jerusalem and the Ukraine-Russia war."
I told Mr Guterres that everyone should support the Istanbul Process on Ukraine and that efforts to resolve the disagreements between the parties would be complementary to Türkiye's peace initiatives.
I emphasized during the call that we consider the incidents that occurred as a result of Israel's interventions and provocations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque to be unacceptable and we strongly condemn them. Additionally, we addressed potential collaborative efforts to establish regional peace with Mr Guterres."
