In a statement on his social media account, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wished Allah's mercy on those who lost their lives in the flood disaster in Libya and a speedy recovery for the wounded.
Expressing his sympathies for the Libyan people, President Erdoğan said, "Türkiye stands by the Libyan people. Under the coordination of AFAD, we have organised three flights to land in Benghazi. Our aircraft will initially transport 168 personnel, two search and rescue vehicles, and two rescue boats to support search and rescue operations and other missions; 170 tents, 600 blankets, 400 food and sanitary packages, 20 generators, 1,000 raincoats, 500 pairs of boots, and 500 flashlights to meet shelter and other needs.
Alongside AFAD, personnel from the General Directorate of Security and Gendarmerie General Command will also participate in the field operations. Our personnel consists of a 65-member underwater and surface search and rescue team, as well as personnel from the Red Crescent, UMKE (Medical Assistance and Rescue Organisation), and nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) for the installation of shelters and distribution of humanitarian aid supplies."
