President and Justice and Development (AK) Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated, "As you may know, our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters have recently declared a new decision in response to those who had deceived them for years with false promises, lies, and hypocrisy. The sole demand of Turkish Cypriots at the table during international negotiations is recognition of their sovereign state status. All other suggestions, with the exception of this one, have lost their validity."
President Erdoğan addressed members of the AK Party from 81 provinces during an event held via videoconference to exchange Eid al-Adha greetings.
Starting his address by congratulating party members on the Eid al-Adha, President Erdoğan said, "I wish that our sacrifices, prayers, and good deeds performed during these blessed Eid days would be accepted in the presence of Allah. I pray to Allah for many more blessed days of health, peace, and well-being for those of us gathered here today, as well as all Muslims and humanity."
Noting that the previous year's Eids and this year's Eid al-Fitr were bittersweet due to pandemic measures taken, President Erdoğan continued:
"We enter Eid-al-Adha as a country that has achieved considerable success in the fight against the pandemic, considerably reducing the number of cases, patients, and fatalities, and making major leaps in vaccination. After about 1.5 years, we are joyously celebrating Eid by adhering to hygiene, mask, and distance measures. Although the pandemic is on the rise with new variants in various countries, Türkiye has not yet fallen into the grip of this threat.
Inshallah, by promoting vaccination and adhering to hygiene, mask, and distance measures, we will be able to leave this wave behind without the need for additional restrictions. I expect you, as party members, to be a pioneer and an example to our country in this respect, as well as to inspire our people. As I constantly mention, the pandemic process has opened numerous doors of opportunity for our country, in addition to the difficulties and costs it has incurred. We are now in the process of putting these opportunities into effect. Industrial production is thriving; trade is reviving, exports are breaking records day after day, and the tourism sector is constantly exceeding expectations."
"We are working hard with all of our institutions to make the best use of our country's human resources"
Stating that the most frequent complaint of investors was the inability to find machinery to increase capacity, raw materials to produce, and containers to transport, President Erdoğan said, "Since there is no space left in organised industrial zones, there are continuous efforts to expand and open new ones."
Noting that all these developments had a positive impact on employment, President Erdoğan said:
"The need for skilled and unskilled workers in many sectors has peaked. The workforce, particularly those trained in specific fields, has nearly slipped into the black market. We are working hard with all of our institutions to make the best use of our country's human resources, particularly our youth. The doomsayers, who are unaware of Türkiye's potential, power, and greatness, advocate the contrary all the time. Despite their efforts to paint a dark picture, we are moving forward with determination toward our 2023 goals.
With each step we take on this path, we remove one by one the obstacles we encounter, the traps set in front of us, and the dreadful scenarios written behind our backs. Dreams of reviving tutelage in our country, coup attempts to usurp the will of the nation, and efforts to reverse the gains we have made in democracy and the economy are also futile. On July 15, our country revealed its decision and stance on this issue in a way that leaves no room for doubt. I hope that, like every other challenge we have overcome as a nation, we will lead this process to victory together."
"The sole demand of Turkish Cypriots is the recognition of their sovereign state status"
Touching upon the visit he paid to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), President Erdoğan said, "The program we carried out in Cyprus yesterday and the day before, which began on the eve of Eid al-Adha and lasted until the evening on the first day, was highly significant in a variety of ways. As you may know, our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters have recently declared a new decision in response to those who had deceived them for years with false promises, lies, and hypocrisy. The sole demand of Turkish Cypriots at the table during international negotiations is the recognition of their sovereign state status. All other suggestions, with the exception of this one, have lost their validity."
Pointing out that those who constantly support the Greek Cypriots and Greece are at a loss for words, despite the fact that they have broken every promise made, abandoned established agreements, and acted in a spoilt manner, President Erdoğan noted the following:
"If the Greek Cypriots refresh their memories, it was they who perpetrated all of the injustice, illegality, and discourteousness against the Turkish Cypriots since 1963, including the massacre. They were the ones who said 'no' to all initiatives, including the United Nations' Annan Plan for a two-state solution on the Island that would include both sides. They were the ones that worked against us within the European Union on every matter concerning our country and the Turkish Cypriots, despite Türkiye's goodwill.
Regrettably, it was the Greek Cypriots who have recently walked away from the table at Crans Montana. Once again, it was the Greek Cypriots who desired to possess all of the Island's wealth and resources for themselves and who continued to regard the Turkish Cypriots as the minority. In that case, we have no reason to continue this vicious circle. We fully support our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters' new solution, which is based on a sovereign state.
For us, there is no longer a Northern Cyprus or Southern Cyprus. There are only independent states where our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters face difficulties. During our two-day visit to the Island, I observed that everyone, from our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters to the president and the youth, is dedicated to this cause. We will make every effort to guarantee that the Turkish Cypriot State receives widespread recognition. Inshallah, we will begin to see tangible results from this."
President Erdoğan indicated that Türkiye, which is attempting to achieve 2023 in an entirely new manner, will face greater challenges at home and abroad, and those problems will become much more extensive. President Erdoğan expressed the following:
"Those battling to remove our country from the democracy and development path it has been on for 19 years and is about to embark on a new stage of that path are well aware that they are approaching the final bend. We recognise the importance of this critical process for our country and nation. That is why we stress the necessity of safeguarding the People's Alliance's strength as well as the AK Party's unity, solidarity, and brotherhood at every turn."
Reminding that, after a short break due to the pandemic, they resumed their provincial visits in tandem with the normalisation steps introduced, President Erdoğan stated that the enthusiasm of citizens and organisations, particularly women and youth, in the events they attended during these visits gave them hope and fuelled their desire to work.
President Erdoğan continued his words as follows:
"I would like to remind you once more that when we are on the field, when we knock on each of our citizens' doors, shake their hands, and please them, our opponents' lies and slanders burst like bubbles. But if we leave the field unattended, then the lies they told turn into cannonballs and begin to fall on us. Hence, we will encircle the field with all of our might. We will be on the streets, at the markets, at the bazaars, at home, and everywhere else. In good and difficult times, we will stand by our citizens. We will directly participate in the activities of all organisations, from public to non-governmental, and we will be involved in the process, when needed, on behalf of our people. Remember that tomorrow, our citizens will reflect on what the AK Party did or did not do by the ballot box, not what other parties did or did not do. If you pay attention, it is not sufficient to perform what I say properly within 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I believe that you will be able to fulfil this heavy responsibility through your planned, scheduled, conscious and effective works, as well as by adding 24 more hours to a day and seven more days to a week."
President Erdoğan stressed that the entire organisation, from headquarters to the village and neighbourhood representatives and the polling clerks, should work with this understanding, together with the top executives of the party and all units, including women's and youth branches.
"We will leave an indelible mark on Türkiye's struggle for independence and future"
Pointing out that each service the organisation provides in the next two years will shape not only the election but also the future of children and their offsprings, President Erdoğan said:
"We should not only be aware of them but also demonstrate them to our nation. We should tell our nation in the best way that there are those who want to return our country to the old Türkiye with its politics and economy, on the one hand, and those who propose to build a great and powerful Türkiye on the other. If we all succeed in this, we will not only win the elections, but we will also leave an indelible mark on Türkiye's struggle for independence and future."
