President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will visit Berlin on January 19 to attend the Summit on Libya upon German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s invitation.
Turkey has supported from the very beginning the efforts exerted so as to ensure that the attacks against the internationally legitimate Government of National Accord in Libya on the basis of the United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2259 are stopped, a durable ceasefire is established and a lasting political solution adopted by Libyans is achieved under the auspices of the United Nations. Accordingly, it has made intensive diplomatic initiatives at all levels; likewise, also made an active contribution to the Berlin Process in a constructive manner.
It is envisaged that the views will be exchanged with regard to the steps required to be taken in order to establish peace and stability in Libya in the coming period and that the concrete steps will be taken towards this end at the summit.
