President Erdoğan speaks with young Turkish people rushing to help those injured in the terrorist attack in Vienna

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a video call with Recep Tayyip Gültekin, who risked his own life despite being injured during the terrorist attack in Vienna, the capital of Austria, and Mikail Özen, who rushed to help other injured people and saved the life of a shot police officer by carrying him to an ambulance.

During the conversation, President Erdoğan conveyed his get-well wishes to Recep Tayyip Gültekin who was injured in the terrorist attack that took place yesterday in Vienna, the capital of Austria, and received information about his state of health.

"We are proud of you," said President Erdoğan to Recep Tayyip Gültekin, who risked his own life despite being injured, and his friend Mikail Özen, who rushed to help other injured people and saved the life of a police officer who was shot at that time by carrying him to an ambulance.

Stating that it was a nice coincidence that he and Recep Tayyip Gültekin share the same name, President Erdoğan noted the following:

“Keep helping the Austrians. They may not understand us, but we do. For we love the creations because of the Creator; we do not discriminate people based on their religion or sect. We said that just being human is enough for us and we continue on this path. I know that you have suffered seriously in Austria from time to time. You still have very serious problems. To them, you have no sin other than being a Muslim. But for us, being a Muslim is the most important source of pride. For one thing, we have fought the biggest fight against terrorism and we continue to do so. I am sure that you will be the representative of goodness, peace and grace wherever you are. I thank you on behalf of my nation, my family and myself. I kiss you on your eyes. May Allah aid and help you. Greetings to your whole family.”

Recep Tayyip Gültekin thanked President Erdoğan and said, "May Allah bless you, Mr. President. May Allah bless you. My biggest dream was to one day meet you face-to-face or talk with you on the phone, if Allah willed. I also carry your name with great honour. I would appreciate the opportunity to kiss your hand, hopefully when I come to Turkey".

Mikail Özen said, “Mr. President, I kiss your hands. It is a great pleasure to be able to talk to you and hear your voice… May Allah not leave our State without you. May Allah not leave the world of Islam without you. We are always by your side. We are always with you ".
During the conversation, President Erdoğan also spoke to Ahmet Gültekin, the father of Recep Tayyip Gültekin, for a while.
